  • Humans started wearing shoes about 40,000 years ago! 
  • It is thought that the history of shoes begins with wrapping the feet in rawhide bearskin and woven plants.
  • The oldest preserved pair of shoes were found buried in ancient sheep dung in a cave in Armenia and are approximately 5500 years old.
  • In Egyptian times, sandals were a sign of power and rank. They were considered a luxury item, categorized by colour depending on social class. Sandals that were gold and jeweled were reserved for Kings only.​​
