Paediatric Podiatry
Children present pain and discomfort in many ways. Not all children will complain of pain in their feet. Many of our young patients tell us that their feet feel tired, or their parents will report of their “Clumsy” feet. Our Podiatrists are trained to not only assess your child’s feet but to make it interesting and interactive.

Some of the many conditions that we can treat in your child:
  • In-toe and out-toe Gait Patterns
  • Sitting and Sleeping Positions
  • Knock Knees
  • Bow Legs
  • Metatarsus Adductus
  • Growing Pains
  • Flat Feet
  • Pronated Feet
  • Arch Pain
  • Sever’s Disease (heel pain)
  • Freiberg disease
  • Osgood-Schlatter Disease
Diagnostic Podiatry
Podiatrists not only treat conditions of the foot and lower limb we assess and diagnose all sorts of conditions. Our clinic prides itself on its diagnostic techniques.

Some of the services that we offer include:
  • Bio-mechanical Assessments;
    • Detailed assessment of your foot, knee and hip complaints.
    • Orthotics - Pre-fabricated, custom made and non-cast innersoles available.
    • Strength and conditioning program consultations; working through chronic pain complaints, increased foot function and increase muscular strength.
  • Medication Review
    • Medications are increasingly prevalent in our society. Our practice acknowledges that some patient’s complaints can be attributed to medication side effects. Our practice routinely checks medication lists through eMims allowing our Podiatrists to be fully informed of your health and management.
  • Vascular Studies; Doppler, ABI and TBI
    • Blood flow to and from your legs is vital for everyday living. Doppler ultrasound allows us to assess the waveforms of blood to your feet. ABI (ankle brachial index) and TBI (toe brachial index) are performed when your blood supply isn’t as healthy as it should be. These measurements are a good indication of Peripheral vascular disease.
  • Neurological Assessment
    • The way that the brain speaks to our feet is important in how we move, how we feel and how we react to our surroundings. Our clinic is able to perform specific neurological assessments targeted to different nerve fibres of the body. These tests include; monofilament, vibration, soft touch, reflexes, sharp/dull, 2 point discrimination etc.
  • Local Anaesthetic Injections
    • Some conditions are cleverly “masked” by symptoms to common complaints. By using local anaesthetic to “numb” areas we are able to more accurately diagnose the cause of your complaint. Our clinic is able to provide local anaesthetic injections in conjunction with general treatments should you be concerned with the pain of a specific treatment.
  • Prolotherapy Injections
    • Prolotherapy (also called proliferation therapy) is where an irritant (in this case glucose solution) is injected into the body to treat chronic musculoskeletal complaints. The injected solution stimulates the inflammation process and is localised to the area of injection.
  • X-ray and Ultrasound Referrals
Our podiatrists can refer you for x-ray and ultrasound of the ankle and foot. These aid in diagnosis as well as providing an inside glimpse at your foot function.
Diabetic Foot care and assessment
Diabetic foot care includes neurovascular screening and general podiatry care. Podiatrists will perform a series of tests to assess both vascular and neurological foot status. Diabetes assessments are done alongside our general podiatry treatments and do not incur an addition cost or consultation.

Sarah Coombes (Principal Podiatrist) holds a Graduate certificate in Diabetes education and considers Diabetes her special area of interest. She is highly skilled in the treatment of HIGH-RISK feet including Charcot arthropathy, neuropathic ulceration and diagnosis of vascular insufficiency.  As a clinic we provide Diabetes screening alongside the current best practice framework and can discuss the results with you in terms that you are able to understand.

Our wound management skills are upgraded regularly, and we are able to identify, treat and provide wound care advice for all types of wounds. Our Podiatrists will liaise with your doctor, wound care nurse and in some cases specialists to provide you with the best outcome for your specific wound care needs.
minor surgery
Both Sarah and Emma Coombes offer minor surgical procedures in clinic.
Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA)
  • Patients who have re-current in-growing nails may benefit from surgical removal of the nail spike. This process involves removing the side of the nail that is causing the problem and chemically cauterising the nail bed and cells to stop re-growth. This procedure is done under local anaesthetic in rooms.
Wart Curettage
  • Plantar warts are a common painful problem that often presents to our clinic. Wart curettage involves cutting the wart from the skin and chemically cauterising the area to prevent regrowth. This procedure is done under local anaesthetic in rooms.
